Kit
- The kit is split into the "RV-10 Installation Kit" (which includes the mechanical parts) and then the parachute/rocket.
Installation Principles
- The front straps grab the top left and right engine mount. The cowling needs a small cutout to let the strap get to the engine mount.
- The rear straps attach to angle brackets through two holes in the top skin that are in the tailcone just aft of the luggage compartment. The rear load is further distributed via extension straps to floor brackets bolted to a plate that sits outside underneath the hull.
Note: the top angle brackets block a potential opening in the upper section of the bulkhead which you need to feed air to the Aerosport overhead console. A possible workaround is to feed the AC air through the bulkhead further out to the sides and then feed the air into the overhead console from the side. The South Florida Sport Aviation overhead console doesn't have this problem as it comes down below the bulkhead for its AC air feed. - The installation requires a cut-out of the lower half of the right luggage compartment side skins. This involves removing the lower longeron which gets replaced with an angle that gets riveted below the cutout. The side skin cut-out gets covered from the outside with a fiberglass sheet that has been weakened to break when the rocket fires.
- The installation requires a letter box cutout in the luggage compartment floor (to allow air to backfill when the parachute is pulled out of the container).
- The installation requires the straps to run outside underneath fiberglass channels that get glued onto the outside hull and rip away on deployment.
- The actuator handle can be placed on the center console, the cable is 108 inches.
