If you have the stock rudder pedals, the rudder cables will come out of the tunnel up front inside the cabin to meet the rudder pedal attachment points. It looks much nicer to also add fairings there. Hint: most people will add the Airward tunnel access panel in this area for the annual inspection or to access the fuel filters if not going with wing-root fuel filters. The bottom rivets of the fairing will have to go through the frame of the access panel, so this needs to be installed before the fairings or the rivets need to be left open until then.

A lot of builders install rudder cable fairings. They look nicer than the white plastic tubes sticking out and avoid water entering. If riveted on, drawback is that cable replacements then require custom cables where the ends get crimped on after threading the new cable through (which might be the easier way to replace the cable though anyway).

Front tunnel fairings

Interference of the access panel with the bottom row of the front tunnel fairing rivets.

Fasteners: MS24693-Cxx (#6). Note: if using screws with nutplates and rounding off the leading edge, the central fastener can get in the way of the cable/sleeve, it needs to be kept flat.
